Time Travelers: A Look at
New Orleans Through Time Summer Camp
The summer camp includes activities involving the archaeology, architecture, and art of historic New Orleans. With a focus on past lifestyles, the art activities center on leisure occupations with which people in 19th-century New Orleans entertained themselves. Campers also discover the architectural richness of historic New Orleans, appreciating how much and yet how little New Orleans has changed over time. Participants see how archaeology and historical research can enrich a museum and help educate the public. The program includes a tour of the Hermann-Grima House and Gallier House, as well as tours of other historic sites in the French Quarter. Ages 9 to 12. Beyond the Dig
Children's Archaeology Program
In conjunction with Louisiana Archaeology Week, the Hermann-Grima/Gallier Historic Houses offers an interactive educational program for students. The children of New Orleans will have the opportunity to learn how archaeology is not only useful in the study of ancient cultures but also in the study of historic New Orleans. Ages 8 to 11.
