Free Admission for Louisiana Teachers
In order for you to plan your field trip, Hermann-Grima/Gallier Historic Houses is offering FREE admission to any Louisiana teacher with a valid school ID or statement of employment on school letterhead. Tour the museums, pick up educational packets, and meet with Education Staff who will be on-hand to answer any questions that you might have. You may also book your field trip at this time. Advanced notice of arrival is greatly appreciated.
Teacher’s Workshops
Two teacher’s workshops are offered during the year. A fall workshop focuses specifically on learning adventures at the Hermann-Grima/Gallier Historic Houses. The summer workshop is a joint workshop with another local non-profit focusing on an historical topic relevant to both organizations. Partner institutions have included the Louisiana State Museum, New Orleans Museum of Art, New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, and Destrehan Plantation. Joint workshop topics have included: New Orleans in its “Golden Age”: A Closer Look at Life in the Antebellum Period, Urban Versus Rural Life, Medicine and Mourning, Life and Art of Louisiana Peoples.
