In the tragic aftermath of the Civil War, a local group of determined women established The Christian Woman’s Exchange, an organization that provided a place for war widows to earn an income by selling handmade goods anonymously. Today, we feature the consigned original art of female artists from Louisiana and the Gulf Coast in the Exchange Shop.

Located in the former carriage house of the Hermann-Grima House, The Exchange Shop features regional history books, cookbooks, and the work of female artists from Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, including photography, mixed media, jewelry, textiles, pottery, ceramics and paintings.
